presents:
HAUL THE SHIP

Get a 320-ton steamship from this river, over that mountain, into the next river. Mash SPACE (or tap HAUL) to work the capstan — the rope goes slack fast, and the crew's morale runs out faster. Let it run dry and they walk off the job for a moment. It's fine. Werner did this for real.

Herzog directs. Kinski is supposedly helping — watch the red CHAOS bar; if he ruins the shoot, Herzog calls cut and the crew stops cold. Wim Wenders is filming all of it for "Burden of Dreams," logged live in the sidebar. Haul too hard for too long and the rope itself gives out — watch "Rope integrity" in the sidebar; it can snap and take the front line of the crew down with it.
